pet, weed-eating goats ( yes it has baby clothes on), 2 cats, self-shearing sheep (true) with the cutest most unusual coloured lambs, 2 regal and stunning alpacas, Zchivago and Calypso, grazing the front lawn.
Patroling the skies above, we have Chrissy, trhe free flying lorrikete. This handful of attitude will spend much of her time perched on my shoulder, whether at the computer, or driving the truck on the farm, will come back from the treetops to my call, loves to visit our guests for morning tea and will simply amaze you with her antics.
mmm-cabernet 100 grams of trouble
The chickens love to squat for a cuddle and tickle and provide of course our guests with fabulous fresh farm eggs. The white doves nest in the dovecots providing constant entertainment especially when the young are in training to fly. Further out we have the cattle , handful of serious scrub eating goats, 2 nursing jersey cows, calves and of course various wildlife on the 45 "lifestyle" acres we are spending a "lifetime" or 2 developing and improving.
We have been quietly working towards self-sufficiency and sustainability for sometime. Our new, massive garden should provide ourselves and our guests with most vegetable requrements.
The original "old brick" area of our Homestead was built in the 1860's from clay excavated from an area below the waterfall and by your cottage. The bricks were fired on the property, are truely stunning and an accolade to the skills of the early settlers to NZ. Many of the old trees that separate the cottage and the homestead, would have been planted around this time. They now provide, not only a majestic presence to be admired, but also a home and playground for many birds
