 WATERFALL LODGE DETAILS

There are a few pamper treats provided but they are for me to know and for you to find out, we can't give away all our trade secrets...

Beyond the diverse countryside of the farm to explore expect the following:........

The Bedroom

A sumptuous queen sleigh bed, with quality ironed cotton linens awaits you.

Fluffy white bath robes, fresh lavender to help you sleep and a greeting card. Extra blankets and a luxurious faux possum bed throw. Flokati rugs adorn the timber floor either side of the bed.

A  TV, viewable from both the living area and bedroom plus a stunning  designer wrought iron clothes/luggage rack and bedside tables and lights complete the room.

Bathroom and concealed laundry

Shower with views to the waterfall, heated towel rail, hair dryer, fluffy spa towels, bath mat, face cloths, soaps and toilet paper.

A  generous amount of timber shelving provides storage for suitcases etc.
A picnic blanket, small picnic hamper, “doggy towels” are also available for the outdoors and  around the farm. Cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaner

The laundry is cleverly designed and concealed into the bathroom area.  Here the  washing machine, iron, ironing board and drying rack are  available to guests staying for 3 days or more.

The Outdoor Bath

This is a winner, just steps from your cottage a deep cast iron bath positioned so both ends of the bath provide views for the bather/s of the waterfall. A stunning rustic totara timber robe and towel  post with shelf, adds a practical and fun touch to your outdoor bathing adventure.

The alpacas often like to hang out in front of the cottage, being  a little timid, they will keep their distance.   Mostly they live in paddocks beside the cottage, so no problem if you would prefer that they keep their distance. Their calming presence adds to the enchanting ambiance at Waterfall Lodge.

 The Indoor Kitchen

Professionally designed, the timber shelving provides a large amount of storage all cleverly concealed behind wooden blinds.

Kettle , toaster, electiric fry pan, benchtop twin elements, benchtop Easycook oven, fridge with ice-box, coffee plunger, cooking utensils, crockery microwave/oven combination.

We have provided for your convenience some basic cooking provisions for the first couple of days ,such as, cooking oil, salt and pepper, some herbs, soya, as well as milk, margarine, fresh farm eggs, a fruit bowl, coffee, milo, tea and  sugar.  Serviettes  and rubbish bags are also included.

There is very little you will need to bring with you when staying a day or two.

The Outdoor kitchen

A gas fired barbeque with hood and the wood-fired pizza oven will enhance the outdoors fun of a little alfresco cooking and dining. A round timber table and chairs with central umbrella are positioned for the view, shelter and warmth from the cast iron pizza oven.

Cook a pizza to remember, followed by a relax in the outdoor bath with your favorite drop of wine, the sound of the waterfall, under the brilliance of the night stars or be adventurous and soak and relax even if it is raining

Barbeque gas and firewood for the pizza oven are provided.

Living and Dining

A built in bench seating area provides further storage at the same time as offering comfortable seating with views to the waterfall.  Stunning thermal lined silk drapes frame the large french doors opening onto the veranda which faces the dramatic waterfall.

A small dining table and chairs, coffee & magazine  table, timber storage/rubbish unit, large wool rug, radio/CD, tape player. The TV is viewable from both the dining/living and bedroom.

Extra Bedding

A fold out bed is stored in the laundry area available for a third person or child. Child beds (eg: a portacot) and high chairs are available on request. Please see RATES for extra persons.

The Veranda

This provides wonderful shelter from the South West prevailing winds. Even on the windiest days- with the doors wide open, enjoy the indoor-outdoor ambiance. Parking is immediately adjacent to the cottage and veranda, even a  guests Rolls Royce was very comfortable in its parking spot overlooking the waterfall. There is  private access to the cottage.

Internet and Phone

Internet wireless is available at the cottage. Telephone for national calls  are available at the main house by request. 3G mobile  coverage exists at the cottage.

Pet Time

We love animals and understand that our “babies” need to be with us when we take time out. yes we are pet friendly.  Indoor small dogs are very welcome- outdoor dogs, cats etc  by request. Cages, beds, feed bowls can be provided. We provide "doggy towels" for those muddy times. There is an outdoor bucket and tap.

We love the unusual so please do inquire.

Heating

The cottage heats up very fast with just one fin/oil heater. The stunning  thermal lined silk drapes and wooden venetian blinds help hold the warmth well in the cold winters.

Special Requirements

We wish for you to have a truly enjoyable time and we hope we can assist with anything that you may require that is not mentioned above eg: babysitting service even alpacas in the cottage area.

The photo adjacent was taken recently of a guest and Chrissey ( my free flying lorikeet) getting to know each other. If birds are not your thing , Chrissey does love her cage in my office, when she is not patrolling the skies around Wainui.

Maybe you might like to join us on the "family outing" (Demi dog-navigator, Chrissey and Devon in the farm truck, off to feed the cattle)

If you do not enjoy animals, please do mention it to us as we have ways and means of keeping them at a distance.

International Guests

Our international guests usually join us for at least  one evening meal when staying for 3 days or longer,  a time we all thoroughly enjoy, but there is no guarantee that cordon bleu will be on the menu- good kiwi home cooking.

We are aiming more and more towards self- sufficiency and organic principals.
